Secondary Glazing

What is Secondary Glazing, and could it benefit me?

This is a question we get asked a lot at Ely Glass & Glazing, and it really does come down to a number of key factors, answered by the following questions:

Do you current windows provide you  with adequate heat, security & sound proofing? If not but you want to keep your current windows due them being essential to the aesthetics of the building, then secondary glazing could be a good option.

Secondary glazing is an internal window, that we fit inside your house behind your current window, to give significant improvements with noise, security & sound protection. This is particularly helpful wit older houses that want state of the art protection in these areas, but the look of their historical original windows on the outside. Secondary glazing is very popular with churches, stately homes and government buildings, even Buckingham Palace has secondary glazing.

There’s a whole range of different styles you can have put in, fully removable, horizontal sliding, vertical sliding that can be discussed depending on the needs and requirements of your specific property, that way the secondary glazing does not impede your ability to use the outer windows’ functions.

So if your current windows are too thin and your house is noisy from an outside road, you have singled glazed windows leaving you more vulnerable to break ins, or you’re windows just let too much heat our, give us a call for a  conversation about what we can do to help.
